22 April 2013 – Earth Day

one and a half earths1.5 the number of earth-like planets we need to sustain human activity with current population and lifestyle patterns. .

two earths2  the number of earth-like planets we’ll need by 2020. .

people-and-the-planet_264123  One in three  people alive today do not have reliable access to clean, safe  drinking water. Some of these people are in Canada, even though Canada is  a G8 country and has over 25% of the world’s naturally occuring fresh water.

Meanwhile,  for the first time in history more than 50% of humans live in cities – and we know from research that people who move to, and live in cities, are more likely to be diagnosed with “serious mental illness”. And, in a few days, North America’s new diagnostic manual will be published [you can buy it now if you need a door stop] presenting new assumptions – that about 50% of us are chemically broken or disordered and need to take poisons [drugs] to “balance” that for the rest of our lives.

Sound crazy to you?

you can do something… More than a billion people around the world will today do something for the earth: the only one we have, and our home.
