There’s a road that leads to glory
Through a valley far away,
Nobody else can walk it for you,
They can only point the way.
You gotta walk that lonesome valley,
You gotta walk it by yourself,
Nobody here can walk it for you,
You gotta walk it by yourself.
Lonesome Valley
Words and Music by Woody Guthrie
You gotta walk that lonesome valley,
You gotta walk it by yourself,
Nobody here can walk it for you,
You gotta walk it by yourself.
Some people say that John was a Baptist,
Some folks say he was a Jew,
But your holy scripture tells you
That he was a preacher too.
Daniel was a Bible hero,
Was a prophet brave and true,
In a den of hungry lions
Proved what faith can do for you.
There’s a road that leads to glory
Through a valley far away,
Nobody else can walk it for you,
They can only point the way.
Mamma and daddy loves you dearly,
Sister does and brother, too,
They may beg you to go with them,
But they cannot go for you.
I’m gonna walk that lonesome valley,
I’m gonna walk it by myself,
Don’t want to nobody to walk it for me,
I’m gonna walk it by myself.
it’s all a tapestry..where we find strength, compassion and way cool universal uniqueness..I love taking responsibility for my Recovery, because I learn so much as I grow seeing/weaving with a new Golden Thread.

Peter Seeger ‘lives’, and he’s still walking the road. Before my mother passed away, she said in a comment about me, but really a self-reflection spoken aloud, (as the cops took me away) – “I used to be like that. But through the years I learned that the only person who can make yourself better is yourself.” I didn’t appreciate the comment very much at the time, but years later I came to understand the truth of it, once I had come to terms with the dysfunctionality of the family, and had found forgiveness. Yes, if I may speak again about the voices, they could be thought of as keeping us ‘company’ on our journey through the low valleys. But our purpose in getting to ‘know’ them, is to get to understand our ‘true’ self. And once our primary ‘voice’ has integrated all the others, we know that we are indeed well, for we are then truly able to walk the road ‘alone’. (Hope I’m not speaking out of turn. Thanks.)
